Frequently Asked Questions

Rates, check-in times, pets, cabins, and what to do while you're here. If we've missed yours, just give us a call — we're happy to help.

These are the questions we get asked most. Every rate, rule, and term is written out in full on our Rates & Policies page — worth a read before you book.

Good to know before you book

  • Is there Wi-Fi at the campground?

Yes — free Wi-Fi is available to all sites. This is an ongoing project, so please remember we can only bring Wi-Fi to the site; we can't bring it inside your camping unit.

  • Do you have full hook-up sites?

We do not have full hook-up/sewer sites, but with a stay of three nights or longer we include a pump-out with our mobile honey wagon. Pumping service is also available upon request on shorter stays. Ask at check-in for details.

Booking & rates

  • How much does it cost to camp at Frontier Wilderness Campground?

Campsites start at $48.95 per night for a tent site with electric and water, $52.95 for a premium tent site, $58.95 for a pop-up, trailer, or RV site, and $61.95 for 50 amp service with water. Cabins run $75 to $125 per night. Rates are based on two adults and children 17 and under — additional adults are $5 per adult per night, up to a maximum of 4 adults per site. Rates are subject to change without notice.

  • How do I make a reservation?

You can book online any time through our reservation system, or call the office at 920-868-3349 and we'll help you find a site. We take reservations year round; during our closed season, November through April, please allow up to 48 hours for a return call or email, or 24 hours for an email confirmation through our booking engine. You must be 21 years old to rent a site or cabin.

  • Is there a minimum stay?

There is a two-night minimum on all sites and cabins. If you are looking for a one-night stay, please call the office at 920-868-3349 to discuss availability — a one-night stay is paid in full at the time of reservation, is non-refundable, and is only guaranteed a site rather than a specific one. Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Columbus Day weekends require three nights, and July 4th requires four nights.

  • Do I have to pay a deposit?

Yes. Camping sites require a $50 deposit and cabins require one night's stay. Your deposit is deducted off your total on arrival and is also considered confirmation of your reservation. The balance is due at check-in. A one-night stay is paid in full at the time of reservation and is non-refundable, whether it is a cabin or a site.

  • Is there a fee for paying by credit card?

Starting in 2027, a 3% charge is added to all balances paid by credit card on arrival. Deposits are still taken by card at the time of booking.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Cancel 14 or more days before your arrival date and your deposit is returned less a $10 processing fee. Within 14 days the deposit is forfeited. Within 72 hours of arrival you are responsible for all nights reserved and the credit card on file will be charged, as are same-day cancellations and no-shows. Only consider your reservation cancelled once you receive your cancellation email. Please call us at 920-868-3349 to change or cancel rather than rebooking online.

  • Can I request a specific site?

You pick your site type when you book, not a site number — once we review your reservation we place you on the best available site for your camping unit. If you have a specific site in mind, add the number to the comments box and we'll do our best to accommodate it. We don't guarantee a specific site number on stays of less than five nights, and we reserve the right to move a requested site at any time without notice. If you would like to discuss site options, please feel free to make your reservation by phone at 920-868-3349.

  • Do you offer any camping specials or discounts?

Yes. Our year-round Frontier Wilderness Special gives you a free 7th night when you stay 6 — and it's the one offer that applies to cabins as well as campsites. We also run seasonal spring and fall specials. Specials can't be combined; see our Specials page for current offers.

  • What is included with my campsite or cabin?

Every site comes with a fire ring and a picnic table — all tent sites have fire-pit cooking grates — and your stay includes free Wi-Fi to your site, the heated indoor pool, 9-hole mini golf, three playgrounds and the bounce house, the arcade and lawn games, the air-conditioned adult center, and the modern bathhouses — all at no extra charge (showers are 25¢ for five minutes). Children 17 and under stay free with two paying adults, day visitors are free, our season events are open to all guests, and a honey-wagon pump-out is included on stays of three nights or more.

Your stay

  • What time is check-in and check-out?

Camping sites check in and check out at 12:00 noon. Cabins check in at 3:00pm and check out at 11:00am. For a late check-in, please call the office at 920-868-3349 to discuss our late check-in procedure. We do not refund for early departures.

  • When is the campground open?

Frontier Wilderness Campground is open seasonally from May 1 through October 20. On October 20th the water is turned off at 9:00am, and the bathrooms and showers in the pool area stay open until 12:00 noon. We take reservations year round — during our closed season, November through April, please allow up to 48 hours for a return call or email.

  • Do the campsites have electric and water hookups?

Yes — our tent, premium tent, and pop-up/trailer/RV sites all include electric and water hookups, plus a fire ring and a picnic table. All tent sites also have a fire-pit cooking grate. We don't have sewer hookups, but a pump-out from our mobile honey wagon is included on stays of three nights or more.

  • Do the bathhouses have showers?

Yes. Showers are 25¢ for five minutes, which helps us maintain hot water and limit wait times. The showers are closed daily from 1:00pm to 3:00pm for cleaning.

  • What amenities are on site?

Free Wi-Fi to every site, a heated indoor pool, 9-hole mini golf, three playgrounds and a bounce house, an arcade, lawn games, a camp store, modern bathhouses, on-site laundry, and an air-conditioned adult center. Every campsite also has its own fire ring and picnic table.

  • Is there anything for kids to do at the campground?

Plenty, and it's all included with your stay. The heated indoor pool is open daily, and there's 9-hole mini golf, an arcade, three playgrounds with a bounce house (open through our Halloween Party weekend), and lawn games. Our season also includes family events like a chili cook-off, a pig roast, a Halloween party, and Pumpkin Patch weekend.

  • What are the indoor pool hours?

The heated indoor pool is open Friday and Saturday from 9:00am to 10:00pm, and Sunday through Thursday from 9:00am to 9:00pm. The first and last hour of each day, Monday through Sunday, is adult swim only — adult age is 18. Swimming is included with your stay at no extra charge.

  • How do I find my campsite when I arrive?

Check in at the office first — it's at the north end of the property, by the pool and mini golf. Our campground map page is searchable: type your site number and it will show you exactly where the site is, what type it is, and which loop it's on. You can also browse the full list of sites by type.

Cabins

  • What do I need to bring for a cabin stay?

Please bring your own bedding, pillows, towels, and dishes. Cabins come with heat and air conditioning, a mini fridge, a microwave, and a grill, picnic table, and fire ring outside. All cabins are non-smoking.

  • Do the cabins have bathrooms?

Three of our cabins — the Glamping Cabin (#17), The Ranch (#65), and Deluxe Cabin #202 — have a private toilet and cold-water sink inside. Guests in our other cabins use the modern bathhouses on the grounds.

  • Are pets allowed at the campground?

Pets are welcome on all campsites and in our pet-friendly cabins — #17, #69, #168, and #227. Pets must be leashed at all times, and there are dog waste stations throughout the campground (please don't put dog waste in the trash receptacles). If you plan to leave your pet in your camper or cabin while you explore the area, leave the office a contact number in case an issue arises. Only service animals are allowed inside any building; emotional support animals are not considered service animals. Please have vaccinations up to date.

Campground rules

  • How many tents or campers can I have on one site?

Door County allows one camping unit per site. On tent sites we allow up to two tents — parents in one and children in the other — as long as it is the same household. Separate households need separate sites, and screen rooms are not considered tents.

  • What are the quiet hours?

Quiet hours are 10:00pm to 8:00am. Any noise should be kept at a level that can only be heard on your own site, not your neighbors'. Radios need to be turned off at 10:00pm, playgrounds close at dusk, and children must be back at their site by dark. All outside activities must be wrapped up by 12 midnight, including fires. To ensure a quiet park for all, no exceptions are made.

  • Can I have visitors while I'm camping?

Yes. There is no charge for day visitors — please have them check in at the office when they arrive. Visitors must exit the campground by 10:00pm.

  • Can I bring a golf cart?

Electric golf carts only. Proof of insurance is required, and you must be 21 to drive. Carts should only be used to go back and forth between your site and the amenities; anything deemed inappropriate use and the cart will be asked to remain at the site for the remainder of your stay. Electric-powered four-wheel ride-ons, mini-bikes, scooters, hoverboards, roller blades, and skateboards are not allowed. Don't have your own? We rent four- and six-person carts — rates are on our Rates & Policies page.

  • Can I bring my own firewood?

Not from south of the bridges in Sturgeon Bay — the Wisconsin DNR does not allow firewood to be brought up the peninsula from there. Please ask at the office about firewood when you arrive.

  • Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is not allowed in any building at the campground, including all cabins.

Door County

  • Where is Frontier Wilderness Campground located?

We're at 4375 Hillside Road, Egg Harbor, WI 54209 — 40 wooded acres about two miles from the village of Egg Harbor, in the heart of the Door County peninsula.

  • What is there to do in Door County near the campground?

We're close to the peninsula's state parks, beaches, lighthouses, orchards, and golf, along with the shops and restaurants of Egg Harbor, Fish Creek, and the villages up the shore. Destination Door County is the best place to browse current events and attractions — you'll find a link to it, and to the other local organizations we recommend, on our Area Partners page.
